Permeable Coatings that Improve Print Quality

Paper and plastics are among the most widely used materials on the planet.  Their diversity derives both from the materials themselves, and the coatings that cover them.  Frequently, it is the coating that gives many of the physical characteristics such as water resistance, printability and a host of more exotic abilities such as electrical conductivity, chemical resistance, reactivity and even biological properties.  In the case of paper, permeability is often the source of strength and anti-jamming properties as well,

Versaperm's latest range of permeability measurement equipment plays a key role in both developing, and quality controlling the coatings and applications.  Small changes in composition frequently lead to substantial changes in the finished product. 

Now, thanks to Versaperm, measuring this has become fast and easy - not only with respect to water vapour but also for all of the commonly used gases – such as oxygen, hydrocarbons, volatiles, nitrogen, CO2  and almost every other gas in common use today.

The latest equipment is capable of independently testing up to six coatings at a time, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes.  Accuracies are typically in the parts per million range, (parts per billion with some gases).

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers a laboratory and consultancy service for companies that test samples on an irregular basis.
